ABOUT US

Haemoglobinopathy Coordinating Centre

East London and Essex Haemoglobinopathy Co-ordinating Centre (HCC) for Sickle Cell Disease will oversee and support the safe, effective delivery of care for sickle cell patients and South East London and South East England HCC for thalassaemia and rare anaemias patients.

The Haemoglobinopathy Coordinating Centres (HCC) operates across a number of providers with Specialist Haemoglobinopathy Teams (SHTs) provided by Royal London Hospital, Homerton  University Hospital and Queens Hospital.

Patients within the HCCs are cared for by a number of different specialist and non-specialist centres.  Our HCC provides a coordinated leadership function and supports the specialist teams in the delivery of care.
